Keep your Windows operating system up to date by visiting Windows Update on a regular basis. Windows operating systems contain many vulnerabilities right out of the box, and Internet-connected PCs should be updated often for maximum safety and reliability. Windows Update requires Internet Explorer. |

If your computer has Windows XP, you should install Service Pack 2. It contains many important security fixes and an enhanced firewall. We strongly recommend applying this update to Windows XP. |

Sometimes upgrading to a newer version can be a good thing. Other times, your computer may not be compatible with the new version, the new version is bloated, or all the good options are no longer available. OldVersion.com archives previous versions of 50 different popular programs, including media players, file sharing programs, image viewers, instant messaging clients, and system utilities - because newer is not always better. |
FREE OPERATING SYSTEMS
These are advanced operating systems that provide
the stability, security, compatibility, and power that keep most of the servers

too. If you want feature-filled, open source, no-cost alternatives to the
ubiquitous commercial operating systems, you must check out FreeBSD and Linux,
and prepare to live with far fewer security and virus headaches.
